From PoliceOne:
Six Minutes That Never Happened
A good friend of PoiliceOne sent us this video (well, the audio is the important part) of a gun battle that took place in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico (just south of Hidalgo, Texas) on July 11th, 2010. Because our Southern borders are "more secure than they've been in the past 20 years" this was not reported anywhere in the "mainstream" U.S. press. Consequently, it must never have happened... except it did.

Counting the rounds fired would be like counting the number of BBs in a gallon pickle jar. I'd be interested if anyone can even identify some of the weapons in use. Sounds like at least one shotgun from time to time (which would be the totally wrong thing to have) and I assume mainly AR-15s. But sounds like there is some heavier stuff in use also.
I use to live on the border in Laredo, just a bit Northwest of this. From what friends tell me it's just as bad there and almost on a daily basis at this point. The disadvantage for Laredo (which use to be an advantage) is that Interstate 35's "mile marker zero" is at their border crossing. So it's the quick and easy path North and beyond for any kind of trafficing.
You'll notice the site this comes from and I don't mean to start a debate. But my impression is that law enforcement is definitely every bit as concerned as most citizens about border security. You could probably get up on the roof tops where this is happening and see Texas. No officer would be able to do anything but take cover and wait for backup. And I'm not sure even a very well prepared and well equipped SWAT team could do much in this situation. (Because of the intensity and short duration of the engagement.)
If this "crosses the border" (an it has in places, as we know) the border states will be a war zone.

I definitely heard alot of fire from a kalashkinov, your right about the AR's but they seemed somewhat infrequent, there was also a decent amount of shots from something heavier and semi-auto.
that is pretty horendous but thats just my .02 BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS

I thought something sounded belt fed but didn't have any idea what it might be. Knowing umph of a 7.62x54R coming of a Mosin bolt-action, I can't imagine being on the receiving end of something pumping out a few hundred rounds a minute or so of it.

The Mexican Army does not have this type of weapon, this had to have come from amother country, the cartels are very well armed and getting more all of the time. A PKM is nothing to fool with but the larger concern is for RPG's, Hand Gerades, 40mm rifle mounted Gerades and related 6 round launchers. Even in inexperienced hands these are very effective weapons. The cartels have already expermented with road side bombs and car bombs, I expect this the become more common.

Yeah, I like that one too. I've seen pictures of captured cartel weapons and I'm not to proud to tell you I'm jealous. Better toys than I'll ever have to play with... :-)
I can't remember if I read it here or someplace else but about two weeks ago they kidnapped a guy, dressed him in a police uniform, and dumped him in the street. There is video going around of a medic kneeling to help him and suddenly an explosion. They had planted a car bomb at the site prior to dumping the injured "policeman" and detonated it when police gathered at the scene. Max |
