Your welcome Sarge. The shell casing idea came from a post here awhile back. The trick B-day candles I learned from a Cub Scout when I was about 7yo.(Almost 40yrs ago). They dont burn very long outside of the shell casing, but light easily with a good flint spark, stay lit as long as theres candle left, and are a great shortcut/cheat for starting a fire.If your into DIY candles, you can untwist the wick a little bit and"very lightly"pepper it with black,or smokeless powder. You then twist it back tight and either start dipping,or pour your wax around it in a mold.It doesnt work very well on candles much bigger than your thumb.Oh,by the way!!Thanks for the carma bump Sarge.Matt.

Anyone know how well pure beeswax would work if I had a candle burning inside a bowl or other container full of beeswax?

I have several pounds of beeswax in my BOL but haven't thought of trying the candle extender idea with it.

Bees wax makes great candles and has a pleasant scent as well. You can melt some of it at a time, pour into glass container and insert a candle stub, birthday candle, or shabbat candle.
