Nice. I like this.
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

I carry a Kurkri as a camp tool and as a last ditch fighting blade. I have the cold steel version, which I like. I put a good edge on it, but not a razo edge, because it would dull too fast under hard work. It can cut through steel if necessary, and can cut off an arm or a hand very quickly if used for defense.
I carry another knife for skinning, and general work, but as a tool, the kurkri is a good one in my book. As usualy, I find if a design lasts a long time, there is a reason it does, because it works. My favorite heavy use blade. One of them and either a Puukko or a Mora have been with me in the field for years.

The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life. - Theodore Roosevelt |
