Doc take items in their data base as fact only after you check them out. Stride tools is listed as USA only but both Stride and their Imperial branch show "Origin of Components: USA and/or Imported" on their packaging.

Channellock is another company that recently started to sell imports using the good name built up over the years.

For cars take a look at this page:

http://www.cars.com/go/advice/Story.jsp ... amMade0709

They go not only by Assembly location but Country of origins of parts percentages.

I know what you mean totally. I hate most imported tools. The NAFTA agreements and global outsourcing with a failure by the FTC to enforce the COO Country of Origin marking rules has made it almost impossible to find out if the companies are still USA or if they have went to globalism.

The made in USA page just annoys me since many of their listings haven't been updated since 1997 or earlier. If you are going to pay for a site like that at least keep it current!

Once when I was in Thailand and I bought a toy for my nephew and the package said "The Great American Toy Company" and "Made in China"

Jeep has a new commercial out about buying American made. They are saying that the new jeep is designed, carved, stamped, pressed and made all in America. I wonder if all the parts are too.

as long as a single component in the manufacturing of a product is made or grown in America, they can use the "Made In America" tag. Just gotta double check everything on it.

It's really hard to find some of that info.
I heard that so many people don't want to buy produce from south America, they are shipping it to Canada and then sending it here saying "product of Canada". (which I admit I would buy before I buy produce from South America.)
