Ok, I'm more interested in what's sitting in the garage with no hood. It appears to have Mallory ignition, aluminum radiator and possibly a Dominator with braided fuel line. I'm guessing late 60's Dart.

Thanks johnny,I'll do that. I got two new factory tanks for the blue ford from a friend so it'll have some range, the engine is new, as is the clutch. has a really low 1st gear in the 4spd and low gears front and rear, has a single speed transfer case which I'm gonna change. The rear tow hitch is really stout is welded to that back bumper and to two crossmembers behind it too, I'll get a drop ball hitch to go in the reciever in case I ever want to tow with it. It'll work well for where I'd take it(ridiculous amount of logging roads around here.) and with a 9in in back and a dana 44 up front it should be fairly durable as long as I don't hammer on it too hard. I'm gonna build a front bumber for it to house the 12k lb winch I have. I want to get some sort of dry storage for the bed of it, not the whole bed but a little of it so I'm open to anybodies ideas there. I'll keep posting pics of progress as I go, nothing fancy, more functional mods than anything to make it pretty lol.
Thanks, Lost Car in the garage is a 67 dart gt, 440,alum heads, lots of compression, big cam, 10.50s on pump gas and we drive it to the track, that's just one of several mopars I've built and by far not the fastest(currently, theres a 67 charger,67dart in the pic,68 dart(race car),and a 74 duster, all bigblock cars now lol, I've got it bad, I can't leave anything alone as far as vehichles lol. |

I'm a ford guy, just do the mopars in volume because I have access to high end mopar parts at garage sale prices, I'm working on a black mustang coupe right now(my personal car) with a 460 stroked to 545......street car ......really. We are shooting for under 3k lbs ready to race with me in it, it's gonna be crazy......allready running high 11s with the little 302 based stroker that's in it now and I drive it daily. But on to the blue ford in the pic,I'm thinking about building like a truck bed tool box but having it flush with the sides of the bed not sticking out over the top, prob a cpl ft long and bed width and heigth will hold more than I'll ever put in it and will still leave me plenty of bed for other things...absolutely has to be water tight though which shouldn't be a big deal(I'll make the top solid and put water tight hatches on the top of it like a fishing boat has, oval probably). I could always build a headache rack on it too(if I do that it'll be made out of aluminum) and put some lights on it, dunno yet, still planning for that and a front bumper. Thanks, Lost |

Nice truck lost. I am still looking for my BOV, but it will be along the lines of your FORD. When I finally get it, I will post the pics and info on it here.

One thing I was thinking of doing in my current truck (a 90 Ranger) was putting a false bottom in the bed and making it watertight so I could put items there. It may work for dry storage. Just an idea.

SCpatriot, Ranger is a good rig, I was gonna do one for a bov (had an 87 4wd ext cab shorbox stx) but I put a v8 in it and sold it,then the blue pickup just kind of landed in my lap. Theres alot of information out there on the ford ranger and some really good forums, try www.therangerstation.com they have a whole tech section on inexpensive stuff that works and reviews on about every suspension kit available for the ranger and some using stock susp parts from other rigs. If you don't have the 4.0 in yours, you can get the rearend out of one with the 4.0 (8.8, same as in the v8 stangs(except I think the explorer has 31 spline axles and carrier(28 for the stang), I know the f-150 does) plenty strong, I put 600hp through one(regularly and have been for quite some time) with stock axles and carrier(carbon fiber clutches for the posi unit, the application for those clutches is for an 03 cobra) and you get rear disks as an added bonus if you dont allready have them. But I gotta jam, crazy busy today.
Good luck, Lost |
