This is more for a laugh than anything else. Last year I had some long very hot Thai peppers, and had them in a jar on the kitchen counter after they dried. Well, I went to crush them up to make dried hot pepper flakes, and they had absorbed moisture back in them and were not dry enough anymore to crush up. so...bright idea. put the jar in the microwave, figuring it worked in the old days with "herbal vegetable matter" to quick dry... A minute later, the house had been pepper sprayed, I mean it was AWFUL...stepdaughter bailed out of her bedroom gagging, whole house had to be aired out.
Lesson # 1...never dry hot peppers in the microwave.
Lesson #2.... if you want to pull a gag on someone, a handful of fresh hot peppers in their microwave, press Start and Di-Di Mau.
dehydrating hot peppers...what NOT to do

oh no!
...since I am allergic to hot peppers but still grow and dry them for the rest of the family, I am glad to know this! I have to take my dehydrator outside to dry them and hubby has to chop them to make salsa.
