For some reason the previous owners of thishouse(they lived here 40 years) the removed the front door to this house and when they re-sided the house outside there is no evidence of there being a door there(they di replace it with a patio deck and patio door off of the master bedroom)...so in place of this door insdie there was a space...so here are the step by step pics of what I did...

This how it orginally started...the shelves were wide enough to hold the canning jars but there was still enough space to add a second layer of something and I wanted to make sure everything was secure inside( eventually i will put some pamel up to cover this spot)right now I have a heavy curtain hanging over it for easy access to finish filling

The dark brown boards in this picture are what I used as spacers to give me about a 1/2 to 3/4 in more to hold the second layer(all the soup cans) the shelves were not wide enough so I added the spacer ..

This is the shelf as it looks right now, since there are still some small spaces that are not done I don,t want to completely cover it yet..and if you are wondering why green boards across, those were left over from re-doing my sons room...those green boards hold everything in place...I have also wired the second layer of soups in so there is no chance of them falling out if curtain is pulled back
