Ok, my grandparents used to use newspaper to insulate their walls, and shove it into door crevises in the winter. Does anyone have any suggestions on insulating those lil vent that are on the outside of my foundation. The screens are still in place, but the little "levers" that close the vent in the winter have nearly all broke off over the years...thought about putting newspapers over the things but there isnt a deep enough "ledge " to keep them in place and guess what?....DUCT TAPE WON"T STICK TO COLD CEMENT!!!! :protest:

pull the covers off, cover the openings with several layers of heavy plastic sheeting and hold them in place by reattaching the covers.

If you have a little money buy some 2" thick foam board at home depot -cut the size you need and seal it with the spray foam in a can. If you have no money collect as many sheets of the clear bubble wrap that is used for packing boxes as you can....stuff them into a few layers of grocery store bags then use that to plug the openings.

That last one is really good.
If you live near a furniture store, ask them for their foam. It surrounds furniture when they get it, and it is just thrown away. You can cut it into blocks that will fit your bottom vents. Be sure to pull them out in the spring, to cut down on moisture and release Radon.
