I know this topic will get some attention just the sound of it makes me beat my chest. I personally have a falkniven A1, RAT 7, Sog seal pup, Kabar utility, kabar heavy bowie, tom brown tracker, and a cold steel recon scout. I can't make my mind up on which one to keep in my BOB. I will tell you if you want to learn about some of these knives go to knifetests.com he beats the hell out of them until they break. Oh and i do have a frost mora for those of you who think he must like big knives the mora bye the way is the one I use the most. What do you carry and what do you think about it. :rifle: :sniper:

Most are 2"-3" folders, an 8" bowie style, Whitetail Skinner, 2 Kershaw Blade Traders-1 with drop point/filet/saw other with drop point/very large gut hook/saw. My house borders Nat'l Forest so my primary concern is large animal (ie Elk, Deer, Bear) processing not necessarily combat. I think my hatchets & axes outnumber my knives. I finally stopped buying the knives/hatchets/axes and redirected my money/energy to buying arrows/broadheads and getting more proficient with the compound bow since it has recyclable ammunition and it would be alot quieter to knock off a Deer/Elk with it than the .300 Win Mag.

I once owned (yes, past tense, it was stolen :( ) a Cold Steel SRK. I loved that knife. I've been meaning to get one again. Anyone else ever own one?

I have read alot of books on survival and survival tools you make in the field does any one have a place where is has all the specs to build your own recurve. Most books and sites I have been to Briefly touch on the subject and I have successfully made several bush bows but can't get a damn recurve to do right it either is too stiff are too flemsy. Can't seem to get them just right by the little bit of literature I have found

The old adage of you can do everything with a big knife that you can a small one,but you can't do everything with a small knife that you do with a big one. So IMHO if you are only going to carry one knife in a BOB I recommend a larger one. The kind you carry is a personel choice. I personally have one made by a friend of mine on another forum that is one of the best knives I have ever owned.
If by my experiences, mistakes, and training. I can help one person to gain the wisdom that will allow them to survive or to save the life of someone they love then I can truly say, that all of the things I have done have been worth every second spent.
