Talk about your survival kit, packs, bag or how to make one.

My Dad's 70th birthday is next week but we are having his party tomorrow (Valentine's Day). My brother and I combined money and came up with this. I bought a backpack and created a starter truck bag for my Dad.

Dad's BOB and truck bag:

Jumper Cables
Tow strap
Zip ties
1 flare
1 emergency blanket
1 poncho
1 survival food kit (12 water packs and 1 USCG food block)
1 glow stick
1 pair brown gloves
1 first aid kit
1 orange vest
1 multi-tool
1 disposable camera
1 fire starter kit
2 small bottles of hand sanitizer (also as fire starter)
1 flashlight
1 fire extinguisher

I think that is all.

my parents are retired and traveling all over the country in a motorhome. they usually hit senic areas and often do so in the off season, when there aren't many others around. when they get somewhere they park the RV and set off in their SUV, often into areas with no cell service and without anyone knowing where they're going. if they ever ran off the road or had an accident it could be days before someone else wandered along, so, with that in mind, i built them a vehicle kit to carry with them. here's the list of contents:

CFI, I thought of something to that extent but:

My parents only a few hundred miles, and only 50-100 at a time rural. I always know when they leave and when they will return, so I was mainly thinking overnight or a couple of days until I find them. Major SHTF, my Dad has major health problems so he won't make it anyway. They are set up at home for long term. This was just because they travel to the lake house (2hours away) about every week and I realized that they took a change of clothes and that was about it.

I also forgot to add. They both have their CWL, but they carry in the car, so I included a bellyband in the kit, in case they have to walk.

i understand bro, as i said above, the kit i built isn't for everyone. your situation is better suited to your kit than mine.

drywall screws or small nails have many uses including building temporary shelters, securing tarps in place, anchoring snares to trees or a piece of wood, etc. and screws can be removed and reused. think about it, if you had a few available, what might you do with them in an emergency?
