Today is Erika's 14th Birthday, so she got her hand held two-way. Only 2 watts, but has 'quad power' which is supposed to make it four times better, though I don't know how. Anyway, it has a range of 10 kms - more in ideal conditions - and will suit her purpose. (Actually, I bought a twin pack, and if they turn out to be good, I'll get another set. Will eventually have one for each of the family, plus one spare, and a unit fitted in each of Chi's and my cars.)
Also got her a Poncho in Australian Military DPC (Disruptive Pattern Camouflage), which she's going to be tickled pink with.

Eldest daughter Kaori, who's B'day is next month, doesn't want an i-pod or DVD player, and thinks the hand-helds are a good idea, so I guess the second one I got may be spoken for. (Means I won't have to put my hand too deep in the pocket - again. )
When in doubt, apply rule ·223 or ·308 -- unless you have a more preferred calibre.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERIKA!
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Happy Birthday, Sounds like you have some great girls there.

And on a side note.
How much does a full uniform in DPC run over there? I was thinking of picking up some camo but I want it to be different than the standard mil surplus here. Im undecided between that and the German Flecktarn, which I think will work really well in my area.

Sixfold, Here's one site where you can check the Aussie DPCU's out: http://www.kitbag.com.au/
When those uniforms first came out, there was an item on one of the TV current affairs programs that showed how effective they are: The presenter was standing in front of some bush, with a few troops wearing the older style cammo 'hidden' around it. (Though it was possible to determine their positions if you looked closely.) He called the troops forward, and they stepped out, fully revealing themselves.
He proceeded to talk about the new style cammo, then beckoned once again towards the bush. About 50% of the 'bush' stepped forward and resolved itself into a number of individuals wearing the new clobber. Very impressive I thought.
I've been looking at the U.S. Multi-cam gear mainly because, apart from being effective, it's different enough that the wearer wouldn't be confused with our enlisted personnel. Unfortunately however, with our dollar the way it is, it works out really expensive for me.

Thanks for the offer C9, however even with used stuff, (which I have a lot of), the shipping would prove to be a killer.
Next time we have one of your Air National Guard units posted to our base, I'll see if I can bargain with someone my size, (SF), for some kit.

(SF) means 'Short and Fat', lol. (Gotta do a lot more walkin'!)

Hey thanks for that site. I've been looking though and it seems the flecktarn is going to be way cheaper no matter where i get it.
