Since I haven't posted on this topic before, a little history. As of last Saturday, We ( wife and I ) currently have supplies stocked of food and such for us our pets and 6 other family members for about 8 months. I have 6 firearms with at least 2,000 rounds of ammo for each. Most have closer to 10,000 rounds. Have a stocked 1992 jeep cherokee BOV with food, water, shelter and gear for at least 10 days on board ready to go. I have some very good military based survival training as well. As I said heres my preparedness background.

This week we added another 100 rounds of .223 ammo, A case of mountian house dehyds, added another $25 in medical supplies, bought 2 350 gallon "totes" to store water in ( they previously held wax) as soon as I clean/bleach/sterilize them. Also added a few books and a couple DVD's to the emergency entertainment library.
If by my experiences, mistakes, and training. I can help one person to gain the wisdom that will allow them to survive or to save the life of someone they love then I can truly say, that all of the things I have done have been worth every second spent.

Feels good, don't it?
As of now, we have a full years supply of food. And an un-real amount of ammo for the "big boys" :sniper: Home Sweet Home :rifle:
Last week I added another .22 rifle, and gosh knows whats under the tree! I'm suspecting another dog-sled harness, an axe/shovel maybe...
I got my lady a couple of perpetual timepieces (Aquitaine rings), for starters. May be good, may not. We'll test 'em out & give a review.

OG Oh yeah it feels great. One of the best things I have ever done to help is when I quit smoking earlier this year. It has given me an extra $40-$45 dollars each week to spend on preps and cool gadgets. As a matter of fact i'm known as the Gadget master on another forum as well as My avatar will be here.

Are you a trapper too?
I've trapped for almost 40yrs, off and on. Southern swamps & forests mostly. I have an active trapline right now.
I finally got to the point where I was fairly good with snares, but not good enough to put any in my BOB. I'm well stocked with many sizes & types of steel traps, and keep a few in my pack too. The added weight in the BOB is a weight off my mind, assurance of a steady food supply.
I really don't recommend snares for anyone who hasn't spent several seasons using them.
Besides, too many coyotes here to fool with it. Unless coyote is on the menu!

I like your posts on the BOT & plan to duplicate it  .

I did/was when I lived on 125 acres in western Ky. haven't trapped in years. Uncle sam taught me using snares in survival school. These snares (12) are light weight just a couple pounds for all 12. As for the BOT If there's anything i can do to help let me know,

DON'T get a Chinese made Generator: Nearly all of them are a POS
Get a US made one, or one that is made to US specifications and backed by a US company.
I'd also suggest you go for something a little larger than 1000W as the designated wattage on most generators is Peak Load rather than continuous output. (Though not always - some will have a Peak Load a little higher than the rated continuous output.) There will also be less strain on the engine if it is not run at max revs all the time to achieve the power you need.

Storing your soap: Wrap the bars in cling-wrap or something similar as they tend to either sweat a lot or dry out into a really hard brick - (some sweat first and then dry out.)

Were the 50 razors the disposable type? I had a stack of those but I recently changed them for a razor with changeable blades which are actually easier to dispose of. This can be good if you're on the move, being followed, and don't want to give away any indication of your physical/mental state. (Those in poor mental or physical condition are not as inclined to take much care of their appearance. No signs of personal hygiene, such as discarded razors, soap packets, toothpaste tubes, etc may lead any pursuers to think that you're not as alert and ready as you are.)

BTW, if you're going to burn, bash and bury things such as empty food cans or containers, bury them under where your campfire is. (Move ash, coals, etc to one side, bury stuff, tamp down some earth on top then replace the ash and coals on top. Searchers may kick at the fire to see if you've thrown anything in that might give them some clues about you, but are not likely to actually dig under the fireplace.) (Unless they've read this post, lol.)
When in doubt, apply rule ·223 or ·308 -- unless you have a more preferred calibre.

I picked up a large alice pack and a molle back pack. Now Im debating on which one to use as a primary? I saw a link on JWRawlings sight on alice packs. Picked up a couple and this Molle system. It was I think CJLENTERPRIZE.COM. something like that.

So anyway now I get to fill em. Picked up some freeze dried food at a estate sale over the weekend. A Y2ker and died and hid kid didnt know what to do with all the food this guy had stashed. So I offered to take it off his hands. At a reasonable price of course.

Well there are my two cents worth. Sight rocks.
