You had me for a minute but it's an FRS unit not CB. I have CB's in my Scout's and pickup but don't own an FRS unit. The local USFS and DOW scan the FRS channels more throughly than the CB channels so I try and stay away from them.

Pretty cool product. I mess around with radio gear a lot. My philosophy has been to have as much gear as I can operate off 12 volts DC (i.e., a "car" battery) and to have as many ways as I can to generate 12 volts DC (several storage cells, the alternator on the lawn tractor, alternator on the cars, a reserve of dry cells, etc.). It's effective if you know what you're doing and portability isn't a concern. But the crank radios floating around are handy--easy to use and typically reasonably compact.
