I have a neighbor a little ways away that is doing this and he said it's working great. He has horses and make horse manure bricks to burn in his shop stove, they put out just as much heat as wood, are free, and unusual as it sounds don't smell that bad when they burn. Here is what he does to make them
1) build a simple mold out of plywood, his makes 5 at a time and they're about 4"x4"x10"
2) line the mold with a heavy drum liner, he lays the over the mold and pushes it down into the cavities with his hands. He says they release easier with the liner.
3) Using a tray for mixing mortar add enough horse manure and water to make a fairly thick mixture, almost like cookie dough. He puts on knee high rubber boots and mixes it like crushing grapes the old way.
4) Put on some rubber gloves to protect from the acid and put into the molds, because we typically only have a max of 10% humidity they take about a day to dry.
5) Flip the mold over gently and peel the plastic off of them.
6) Get a fire burning with kindling and add the blocks one at a time letting each one catch before adding another.
He does it during the summer and stores them in tubs next to his shop, he said with 2 horses he can make enough in a summer to heat this shop all winter and it cleans up his corral without having to pay to have the manure hauled off.

"Who will govern the governors? There is only one force in the nation that can be depended upon to keep the government pure and the governors honest, and that is the people themselves. They alone, if well informed, are capable of preventing the corruption of power, and of restoring the nation to its rightful course if it should go astray. They alone are the safest depository of the ultimate powers of government"

But in a different direction with the biodigester. Check out the post on a biodigester "When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty..” Thomas Jefferson

Cow pies work good also, never used them in a stove but they're great on a campfire. |

I would suspect that any omnivorous animal manure would work because of the undigested hay/grass. He does it with horse manure simply because he has 2 of them. The 2 most important things he says is getting the consistency of the manure/water mixture right, you don't want slop but you also don't want it to be too dry and not bond to itself and make solid bricks and waiting long enough for drying because if you drop them out of the mold too early they fracture and you gotta start over.

Whenever any government becomes oppressive it is not only the right but the duty of the citizenry to revolt. Thomas Jefferson
I can understand how a person can look at mankinds inhumanity to man and say there is no God; but I can not understand how a person can look at the mountains and the stars and say there is no God. Later this tradition declined, so did Rome. excerpt from Time Enough For Love by Robert Heinlien |

Ammonia production from Manure requires a Long term excess Moisture - dayS...
If the manure is Dry when colllected, is moistened only to get it to Brick up, then dried, there is very little Ammonia. It would be evident in the smoke, if any, when long-term Moist manure is burned. Dry stuff has little odor, and not enough Ammonia for this nose to detect. I have burned Horse and Cow manure quite a bit, when camping in my Younger years. The Most Common source of Ammonia in my humble existence, was the Diaper Bucket we used back in the late 1960s, when it was only a day from our Once Weekly Pick-up from the Cloth Diaper Service - Bucket was nearly full of wet diapers, some of which had been marinating for nearly a week! +1Christian4Israel

I have heard that burning solid waste is much better then burning liberals for heat. Liberals unlike excrement burns very hot because of all the fat content, especially in head and around belly and rear end. Yet, while Liberals burn well, they give off a much worse odor when burned then does burning crap. Just the way it is.

Burning manure is done all over the world even to this day.
Seems like a lot of messy work to me, but one of those, "good to know, if i ever need it things". Thanks for posting. My basic tool rules:
Deploy your assets, if you spread them out no one know how many you really have............................ Redundant calibers are just another asset........... Have passed, "need", along time ago......... Invest in airplanes and firearms, never women or cars....... Precious metals..........Brass and lead......
