At our first aid talk, we learned that Cabellas (and other places) have a staple kit for sewing up cuts like that and the stapling is easier, quicker and better to heal from.

You covered the sound of you crying with music, good idea :D
I also see you all were smoking while performing the surgery, I love a relaxed environment.
Good post.

I read on a "ditch medicine" site (can't remember the URL) that stapling a wound increases the chances of infection compared to standard sutures. I personally am trying to round up the $$ to get both with the intent of using the staples as a quick and dirty fix until the wound can be properly cleaned and sutured.

a77...we heard the opposite, plus the fact that it's quicker and less painful tipped the scales in my opinion. Although, I have to say that I will be getting both myself.

I guess it's a "roll the dice" decision. Personal experience's have been:
hernia surgery: glued the incision, infection if about 3 days
shoulder surgery: staples, nasty scar, hurt like hell when they pulled them but no infection
appendix: stitches, barely visible scar, tickled when they removed them (I know, I'm weird but I'm OK with it).

The only remaining question for Johnny is did eating that expired can of Beenie Weenies cause dizzyness and lack of motor control which made him slip and cut himself or was it easier blaming it on Angelz?

Looks good!

Love the operating room. Pebbles and all. You doctor looks comfy as well in her PINK crocks!

Did you sterilize the utensil before or just go in head first ask questions later? :D

Super Glue works great for closing lacerations. Just pinch it together really hard until the skin blanches (turns white) and hold together whil applying super glue along the entire length of the cut. Hold for a few seconds and gently let go. If you have any blood contamination, it may not stick well and you may have to do it again. I have used this method many times with great success and saved a trip to the emergency room. You can even buy medical grade super glue but I have always used the regular stuff with no ill effect.

we learned that instead of super glue-ing the would itself, you should make small butterfly bandages, pinch would as you mentioned and then glue the bandages outside of the wound. If you glue the wound, it may not be clean enough and an infection will build up. If you glue the wound, you will be using gloves and have a GREAT chance of having your glove be glued into the wound (lol).
