It is with the utmost regret and deep sadness that I inform you that I have received an e-mail from Carol, Dennis' wife, informing me that our much respected member and moderator, Dennis 'Alaskan' Souza, passed away last Sunday night at 10:30 p.m.

In the short time I have been a member here, Dennis became a very very close friend, and his passing has left me with a great sense of grief and personal loss. I will post some more details a little later, but at this moment I feel too badly to write much.

I have yet to reply to Carol's letter, but will do so shortly. Would you guys think it presumptuous of me to pass on condolences on behalf of SHTFMilitia?

The same from me. I didn't know him well or anything, but from what I read of his posts, he seemed to be a good, rather knowledgeable person. He'll be missed.

I have to say I didn't see this coming. Dennis always took the time to thoroughly explain things to me when I had questions. He will be missed.

I always wanted to take him up on his offer of front porch beer too.

Send my condolences to Carrol.

Sixfold, He'd given us an open invitation to come anytime and stay a while, so Chi and I had planned to visit him and Carol come next summer. My idea was to let him find me sitting on his porch drinking a beer from his cooler.

Very sad to hear. Please also pass on my best wishes to Carol and her family. He will be missed.
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

I haven't been here long at all, but Alaskan seem to have alot of wise comments. I will make a point at reading past post to see if I can gain some of that knowledge. Peace be with you Dennis. God Bless.
