(I realise that this doesn't come under the banner of "Good News", but I didn't know where else to put it.) I've posted this before, but for those that haven't seen it, this is a little known fifth verse of the Anthem. It was written by Oliver Wendall Holmes in 1861, in indignation of the beginning of the War of Northern Aggression. I feel that the sentiment applys equally now, considering the rise of treachery that is taking place. (JMHO, of course.) When our land is illumined with liberty's smile, If a foe from within strikes a blow at her glory, Down, down with the traitor that tries to defile The flag of the stars, and the page of her story! By the millions unchained, Who their birthright have gained We will keep her bright blazon forever unstained; And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave, While the land of the free is the home of the brave. When in doubt, apply rule ·223 or ·308 -- unless you have a more preferred calibre.
