I am thinking of buying anew scope for one of my higher powered bolt action rifles. The claibers I have which may need rescoped are 308, 30-06 and 7mm Rem Mag. I am looking for scopes in mid rnage price, less then $200.00 , which has internal markings for helping range and windage. I would like soemthing that is durable and will take the pounding of field use and of repeating firings. Also low light capability would be nice.

Hoping some here are more knowledgable about current scopes then I am and can help me out. It will be appreciated.

Look for my post about the TruGlo from Natchez Shooters Supply. I have an 8-32x44 and a 6-24x50 both mil dot. With a little bit of learning I'm able to range within about 10yds. The 8-32 is on a .300Win Mag and the 6-24 is on a 7-08 and I'm getting ready to get another 6-24 & Warne mounts/rings for a .223 to replace the crappy Bushnell scope and Leupold mount/rings. If you really want the low light assistance they offer them with illuminated reticles, I just didn't want the weight.

Here's the link. They're right at the top as "best sellers". I also have a buddy with a 8-32x44 on a 7mm mag and also on a 22-250. Neither one of us have had any issues with them and both the .300 & 7mag are running full max handloads so the recoil on ours will make your '06 look like nothing. The only thing that takes a bit of getting used to is the exposed turrets but I've calculated drop for mine and use them to dial in the shot so I don't have to hold over.

Spot on w/the Truglo. One of my buddies has the illuminated 8-32x44 on his remington 700p 338 lapua and he's got me convinced I need one on my .243. I was happy w/my simmons until I saw the price of these things.

As a side note, if you order one spend the extra $5 and get the sun shade kit. I didn't and ended up paying more shipping for them. They make a world of difference when your looking into the sun. They come as a set 3" & 5" and you can also screw them together for a total of 8" which on my 7-08 looks goofy as hell, the scope's as long as the barrel :D

TY, I will eb looking into it and appreciate the first hand knowledge. My scopes are old like me, and time has taken their toll on them, so time to replace.

wulfin,
Not sure if you've found what you are looking for as of today.
a77ssii,
Those optics seem to be the cats tail.

Here is my question:
Does anyone have experience with 'Center Point' sold at Wal-Mart?
I just purchased a 4-16 x 40 for $69.99 plus tax. It is Mil Dot and has allowance for range and windage.
I've heard limited but favorable reports from close friends and acquaintances.
Its use: sets real nicely atop my deer rifle. :)

I've personally owned 2 CenterPoint's. The were both on a .223 Varmint Rifle, they both died in about 6 months with a nasty rattle. My 6x-24x Tru Glo will be here on Monday for that rifle.
