My BOV is also my daily driver. I have a 1992 jeep cherokee classic, 3" lift 31X10.5 mud kings, top hat roof rack, off road lights, dana 44's rock crawler tranny and tranfer case. Doesn't get great fuel mileage ( about 10-12 mpg) but it will go almost anywhere. Also we have 10 days of emergency supplies and gear for me,wife, and pets. Including food, water, shelter. I'll try to post pics if I can.
If by my experiences, mistakes, and training. I can help one person to gain the wisdom that will allow them to survive or to save the life of someone they love then I can truly say, that all of the things I have done have been worth every second spent.

Oldsoldier, Is that 10 days of supplies you carry in the jeep in order to get where you need to go?
When in doubt, apply rule ·223 or ·308 -- unless you have a more preferred calibre.

It's back-up until I get to my BOT ( bug out trailer) which has an additional 45+ days worth of supplies on board. plus the supplies We have at home we are ok for at least 6-7 months maybe a year if we ration supplies.

Good thinking ninety nine. I had set our trailer up for bug-outs, but as I often have to use it for more mundane purposes the system had to be changed. Now all the equipment I need to carry is packed into totes and barrels that can be quickly loaded as the situation warrants. We are also in a rural community and I think we would have time to do this going to panic stations.

I set up my BOT just for that. It's made from the frame, bed, etc. from a jeep comanche pickup. I put a lift under the rear end, added a camper shell, put in cabinets and a drawer that runs the full length of the bed and slides out when the tail gate is lowered. It locks up and has 2 12v deep cycle marine batteries for some power and to run the alarm system on it. It also has/is wired with 2 120v electric outlets that can be powered off a 3000 watt inverter thats on board or from the "pigtail" like on a camper to run off electrical plug in or a generator. The suspension is a 3" lift with standard dana 44 jeep rear end. It also has mud king 31X10.5 tires just like on my jeep. a custom made roof rack on the top of camper has mounts for 2 more tires and wheels 6 5gallon gas cans on the rear of rack as well as 6 6 gallon water cans to the front. A platform/ mount on the trailer tounge is set up to hold one of my generators which is a USFS approved (whisper quiet) 3500w coleman generator. Total weight best I can figure is (loaded) around 3,000 pounds and pretty well balanced. It pulls really well on and off road, with the exception of rough terrain where it "twists" from side to side. I am planning to remove the ball hitch set-up from the tounge and put a clevis hook set-up in its place to take are of that problem. Built the set-up myself with scavanged/traded parts so not including supplies i only have about $400.00 in it.

Sounds like a really good system, Mate.
I like the idea of having a pop-top caravan that I could use for both holidays and bugging out, and as my mrs thinks it would be a good idea too I'm scouting around for one. They are often much cheaper to buy after the holiday season when many people find that camping is not exactly like what they thought it would be, especially when they've had no experience of towing one.

There is actually a company based in Australia that makes an "outbacker" tralier I can't remember the company name at the moment. I'll find it and let you know. But they make an AWESOME trailer i thought about one but even though they export them to the U.S. they are pretty expensive here. $ 18,000.00- $ 40,000.00 But I bet they are a lot cheaper there.

There are quite a few manufacturers of those trailers in Oz - even got one in the town close to us here - but they are pretty expensive.

XJ sorry I've been away for a while. Plan to be around more if time allows. I'll try to post both BOV and BOT pics soon.
