Yep, Bid, the Forrester is a great vehicle. While I just HATE to disagree with a77ssi, (he must mean those Libs over in Evergreen LMFAO) my old gutless 88 Subaru would take me places that only high ground clearance Jeeps would be there too. Subarus are notoriously under-powered, but all but bullet proof all wheel drive. Good bang for the buck. (And it might blend in with the sheeple mobiles better than most).

The Subaru Colorado comes stock with Obama/Biden & Sierra Club bumper sticker preinstalled and at closing your automatically registered with the Democratic Party where you receive your laminated membership card. Sorry Doc, I had to...

My Mrs drives a Subaru "Impezza" hatchback, and although I've thought about getting an "Outback", (a higher riding version of the "Liberty" station wagon), I will probably get something more suited for use around the property, and as a BOV.
When in doubt, apply rule ·223 or ·308 -- unless you have a more preferred calibre.

Odd...being a professional mechanic, I've never had trouble getting parts for a Zuke...be it a Sammi or a Tracker. Lot's cheaper to fix than most vehicles, too...in the rare event one needs it. lol Gotta agree on the hardtops...of course if someone wants in bad enough, it really doesn't matter. BTW, my Samurai goes every day to work, or in the forest, through the stream, or across the country...and I fail to see where reliability is an issue. My first issue was a wheel bearing failure at 160,000 miles. A whopping $40 repair. The tracker is very similar mechanically. For the deuce people, yeah, they're nice...expensive to fix...hehe...you want an obsolete part, try the air over hydraulic brake booster! They were hard to get when the trucks were still in service! Fight for your rights, or sit down and shut up

agree with ya 100% on the parts for the dueces...still have some if anybody needs 'em..1945 gmc parts.....ok, enough of the dueces, subarus,ect......OP was asking about the tracker...reliable little trucks that are easy to fix and find parts for..if you need them. i've had several suzukis and geo/chevys and have always have been able to beat the crap outta them and they just keep on going. and as far as 4x4'ing with 'em...hell, most of the time you never even need to lock them in....i've gone around soooooo many ford-chevy-dodge-toyota-nissan that it kinda gits annoying i guess most of us who have been mech's just know how to keep the maintenence up on ALL vehicles we drive, thats what makes all the diffrence in the world.

Where you gonna get parts when SHTF?
Buy an old vehicle that has minimal parts to it to start with and buy the most important extra parts needed before SHTF. Yes, you can strip other vehicles that have been abandoned, but the new cars are much more difficult to repair with the computers and barely enough room to get around in. If something goes wrong, a vehicle with minimal parts can be repaired in a pinch on the side of the road. AN old pickup truck with extended cab. Can be diesel and four wheel drive. AN old panel truck smaller pick ups for better gas mileage some dirt bikes for less gas consumption and use in areas cars can't go. |

when steel prices went thru the roof a few years back....everybody and their dog where crushing the old vehicles because of the tonnage.......worked for a salvage company back then and seen soooo many old ford/chevy/dodge pickups being smashed it almost made me sick. now they're gittin' just as hard to find parts for as most other older vehicles (30+ years old or older) we would usually just crush 2 at a time because of how they fit in our crusher. lot of steel went to China back then, and a lot of it was the older trucks!.....
