In the case of "bugging out" and having to snatch my bag and run for the hills, these are my top 10 items (in the bag). Typical items, such as clothes, wallet/money/ID, cell phone, bandanna/handkercheif, etc... would already be on my person.
(Click on each item for links : ) 1. Becker BK7 Combat/Utility Knife 2. 550 Cord 3. Magnesium Fire Starter (and a couple of standard lighters : ) 4. MSR Miniworks Water Filter (would also grab a canteen) 5. First Aid Kit (185 pieces) - and throw in a Snake Bite Kit 6. Leatherman Core 7. Wilderness Survivors Guide (great reference on everything) 8. Pocket Chain Saw (nuff said, shnick shnick) 9. Map(s) and Compass 10. Pistol and ammo - preferrably a H&K USP40 or a Springfield 1911 Operator (both still on my wish list) No specific order really, because almost all items are equally important. Although, in any extreme survival situation, the knife and rope would be the 2 most useful (and possibly life saving) tools to have. |
