I have a motorized bicycle someone gave me last year. It don't work and I'm so damn busy to get around to it  Anyway I was thinking? How bout using it for a generator or a pump???? Anyone ever used one? They're cheaper than a lawnmower engine ($150 & up)Image

Looks like the carb is missing and I don't see oil pump lines so it must be oil/gas mixture. Looks like all it needs from this side view is a coil, and a on/off switch. Mount it good. Heck, I am use to a regular M/C motor, where is the kick starter or pull rope? :D

Don't forget you can buy the Chinese 800-1000 Watt 2-cycle Gennies for right around 100 bucks. I am not against people experimenting but if you want a long running tried and tested generator I would try one of those. I get about 6 hours on a little over a gallon maybe a gallon and 1/3rd. It will run my big deep freeze but falls short on the small air-conditioner unit. It actually ran my space heater as long as I heated it up on low before switching to high power.

Best you put that motor back on a bike...if ya wanted to use it for power generation or pump duties, ya would have to seriously de-rate it cause it ain't got no cooling fan...basically, ya take a Two horse (AT ABSOLUTE BEST) motor and run it just off Idle, so ya get .7 Horsepower, and it won't be making 300 watts, or pumping like an aquarium pump - will that be useful to ya?

Go and get a purpose built Genset, like in the post above.

I was thinking of the same thing for a bicycle but could also be set up to run an alternator for electrical power, a string of 12volt bulbs which would be more useful than regular light bulbs. Although a tad dim the 12 volt bulbs do provide light and can be run off a car generator/alternator with an easy modification. With bicycles you have cheap transportation yet converted to a bicycle engine one has a long range recon at his disposal. Your thoughtss
