Concur with GrimOne, Been thru that 2 times and vowed never again. At first the wife leaving is a total shock and very demoralizing. After a few days when all sinks in your going to have to do as the GrimOne says, change the locks, freeze or change ALL accounts, take her off ALL money strings and then pull up the boot straps to start over. NEVER feel sorry for youself. All sides have their views of what happened, yours, hers and the guy she ran off with.
Continue with your life getting ready for whatever is happening with the economy, prepping, find something to do with the hands and mind and above all don't sit around dwelling of what happened. The mind will drive ya insane

Sorry to hear about that bud. One thing I have always been told early in life even if you get married never have a joint acct with each other money can ruin relationships. Keeps things like this from happening. Hopefully u will file some legal action against her for the kids sake and maybe get some of the money back or they will just put her in jail.

I'm so sorry you have to go through all of this. My prayers are with you and your children.

Man that's rough. I had a Ex do something similar about 20 years ago. Luckily we didn't have any kids that suffered. She cleaned out our joint banks account which she legally had a right to do. BUT she also cleaned out my business account which she DID NOT have legal access to. Long story short she and a "friend" at the bank were charged with embezellment (spelling?) made to repay the stolen funds ( took 4 years) and BOTH spent 2 years in jail (work release so they could make repayment) and 10 years probation. Which during that time if they got in any trouble they would spend another 10 years in prison. So I know where you are coming from it really hurts when you are betrayed especially by someone you love(d). Hang in there and follow grim and others advice. take legal action. Belive me it will eventually get better. My prayers go out to you.
If by my experiences, mistakes, and training. I can help one person to gain the wisdom that will allow them to survive or to save the life of someone they love then I can truly say, that all of the things I have done have been worth every second spent.

All is well and good for all the post. Your gonna have to filter out what is said, get a good lawyer, change locks, etc, etc. As for as the Credit cards go, speaking from experience, call each of your creditors telling them what happened and what your trying to do to make restitution of payment. Most companies will respect your honosity, will set ya up on a time payment, even help you out on the Credit Report, and continue to let you charge.
Good Luck and KEEP PREPPING.
