Just thought I would post a few pics of my activities this weekend...it's not a skill I could write a how-to on, but it's a skill everyone should have. In a long-term SHTF situation, cutting trees may become necessity, either for construction or fire or whatever.

To make a long story short, I drove 250 miles to cut this for an old friend of mine, he didn't have the tools or knowledge to do it safely. This is what I do for a living, it's more fun than eating peanuts.

Starting the wedges to ensure it didn't sit back.

That's me walking away from a job well done.

This is what stupid makes when he's bored with a chainsaw in his hands! my friend's 2 daughters, and cousin in the background.

well now! a good weekend spent...now drive on up here! my daughter is wanting to learn how to use a chainsaw and cut wood - she decided she didn't like how my son in law cut the wood and when.

If it was closer, I'd be glad to. Using a chainsaw safely and efficiently takes time, experience and trial by error. As much as I joke around, horseplay and trust myself at work, it's really Russian roulette. Every time you cut a tree you're flirting with death. I think that's why I enjoy it so much...

I helped a friend take down some trees of mine up in Illinois before I moved. He used rope to tie one off to the other and we used it to lower it down. He had real skill. As to what I did this weekend, sorry, it was a Disney weekend. Every once in a while you have to relax.

:D

I didn't know Disney cost so much, it was almost 1000.00 for three adults and one six year old for two days at the Magic Kingdom. it was a fun event except when you had to leave from the park to get back to the parking lot...... Like herding hogs through a narrow gate,,,,, :D
