The cooked dry wall is a good way to dehydrate isopropyl alcohol. Here is a good use for isopropyl alcohol:

yeah, please explain. I'm assuming you mean to dry the drywall at a low temperature, then allow it to absorb the water from the alcohol...but not certain how exactly it's done.

One of the comments to the article that wireless posted mentioned how to make lime from drywall. It can be readily done by heating (cooking) drywall outdoors!

Aerospaced says: You could use lime to do the same thing. When I was growing up, my dad taught me this trick. Take some ordinary dry wall and bake it in a toaster oven OUTSIDE. The paper on the outside may burn off. The lime left behind will be completely dried out. Take the lime and crush it into as fine of a powder as you can. Add it to your alcohol and mix thoroughly. Let it set over night and either re distill or use a separator [filter] funnel to get the end product. We had a farm that had a large above ground gas tank for refilling our tractor. It would accumulate water and had to be dried out.

Put it in a sealable bowl and stick the bowl in a deep freezer. As ice forms a layer on the top,you periodically skim it off.Do this untill no more ice forms, and the hootch will be pure. This is whats done with ice beer to make it stronger, and I've done it with applejack to make it ALOT stronger.

Interesting ideas gang..
..
But..
..
Has anyone ever heard of Zeolite? It is a molecular sieve. It also absorbes water molecules and essentially removes the water from alcohol (any alcohol).
..
It is also re-useable -you jut bake it in the sun for a few hours and it's ready to use again.
..
It is essentially like little rocks that you put into a container, then pour the alcohol with the water into the container. Let sit for a few hours, then drain the alcohol out (the zeolite keeps the water so you get drier alcohol - did I just say that? A Drier Liquid? Oh well, you know what I mean... More pure alcohol).
...

If you want to have it when you need it, prep it. And it's reusable.
