I try no to bring up prepping until I know someone a little bit (ideology etc.) By chance I did find out that my neighbors across the street are preppers. We live in an area with a lot of horse ranches so we all have several acres. One sunny day I was out in my garden working when the neighbors came over to see how my garden was going. They asked what all I was going to do with all the food that I have (that was after I gave them a sack of tomatoes and peppers). I told them that I usually can up a storm to store food for winter. They then proceeded to tell me about all the food that they had stored along with some of their other preps. It's nice to now that at least one of my neighbors is also a prepper.

I am more like "Freedomlover" and I am running silenet.
I use to talk with others very lightly bringing up the subject about setting some food back. Those seeds never sprouted that I know of. I don't say any thing because I don't want to be a target. We had a guy back when Y2K was a big deal. He told every one what he had. Behind his back other people were talking about going after his goods because he was old and in his mid 60's. It was an eye opener that is for sure. I picked up a few cases of MRE's at the flea market and the guy that sold them to me was talking about a woman who got about a 100 cases from him. He was telling me, he asked this woman why so many and where did you store them? He said that she put them in her closet and took her bed apart and set her bed on top of them. That she was alone and she wanted to be able to be ready so she can take care of her daughter if things go bad. I don't do things that draw attention to me but people do notice. I have been putting water in bottles and people are noticing me. My assistant at work was just looking and making a commit about how much water I had. To do prepping right it is hard work and it can take you away from the things you love to do. That is one reason why others don't do it. The other reason why is because they don't want any thing to take away from their beer money and weekend fun. There are just so few preppers compared to other people. It could be 1 to 100 where I am at. The excuses are many but their actions will prove to be very "Painful" when hunger strikes. But that pain will be nothing compared to the hunger of their kids! I am running silenet and prepping more now because of all the signs that are out there. Kevin |

I drop hints to my family saying it's time to prep and pray. Some have an idea of what I'm saying because they know I prep and store food and water. Others still think I'm a little off my rocker. Or they just ignore the idea. The other night I was talking to a really good friend of mine she works for American airlines, she had said they were talking about all the pilots retiring this year early and how they might have to cut down on flights and even jobs a massive one. The way she made it sound that this would be a world wide layoff from American Airlines. She's worked for them for 26 years now and even said she's worried about her position come next year. I mentioned to her once again that it's important to always keep extra food and toiletries stocked up for emergencies and maybe a situation your fearing like yours. I'm not sure if she will take my words and apply them. I figured since she was worried that was my perfect time to introduce her to prepping. My uncle is the only person I talk to weekly about prepping and that's because he and I are like minded and he turned me on to bob's and stocking up on items. My gf is my main concern since I have no real family here in TX and she's the only one I've been planning for as an extra and she knows it, I just wish she would fully get on board with me. Maybe one day before it's to late she will see.

The more I listen, the more I find many persons with the same thoughts. It sure makes it easy to start the conversation.

I told a girl that I was dating that she should have a weeks worth of food just incase of a generic emergency. I slowly introduced her to prepping farther than a week. When I finally told her about preparing for when SHTF, she thought I was "bat s*** crazy."
I did what I could to convince her to prepare to the best of her ability, so I guess it wasn't for naught. [ Posted via mobile device ] ![]() Matthew 24:15-25

Where I live ( Florida), it is an easy thing to say " Hurricane Prep" if someone is wondering why I have an entire bedroom dedicated to storage.. The season of 2005, it seemed every weekend I was doing what came to be called " the HURRICANE SHUFFLE".. trying to get that last bit of water, bread, milk, gas..It was very tiring! It was after I found the radio show of this forum last Jan, that I began to see the value of "prepping"..Thank you guys!
I started a garden this year, and my neighbor ( i have one on one side) saw it over the fence. ( yeah, he peeks).. guess what he has now? So that was an example that spread at least a little bit. My adult children that live here.. my younger one sees what I am doing as " smart" and so does her husband.. and they do their best..she even did a garden this year.. ( not so easy in Fl) My oldest .. well she saw my room and promptly declared that this is where she will be if SHTF. I talked to her about CME's.. She never heard of them. I told her. She said then how come no one ever had a problem with it before? So i told her about Canada;s experience and sent her lots of links and youtubes. I also told her about the Carrington event, which WOW'd her. LOL She still ain't doing it.. anyway.. you do the best you can.. go with your gut as to who you want to tell.. your instincts will guide you..
