ok,we stock our supplys, plan bug out areas,go through scenarios, practice and we're good right?
then im laying in bed last night and it hits me.lets do a little movie oligey comparisons here.i have kind of had it in my head it would be kind of like 'THE ROAD',where a man and his son travel around togeather after SHTF and they had to bug out.but i start thinking of other movies like MAD MAX where hes traveling alone, and people will run you out of the road and kill you for a gallon of gas!then theres CASTAWAY with tom hanks,he survived by himself.although he ended up befreinding a ball with a face drawn on it  .then there is I AM LEGEND with will smith.
and it goes on and on.what im getting at is if the worst happened and i were killed or injured to the point that i couldnt go on,how would my wife do on her own.its something i had never conciderd until last night.
so starting this weekend im going to be working more on her survival skills, defensive skills, shooting and hunting skills.
we never know how things are going to turn out.but one thing i have learned is you hope for the best, plan for the worse, and prep and traine for even worse than that!how do you think its going to play out?

Sad to say, my wifeling is on survival mode if the hair dryer or curling iron is out. She asks questions in a vague way from time to time, but that's about the maximum extent of her interest. If one of our sons doesn't care for her, if I'm a goner, so is she....

I would be careful with PUSHING, didn't work well for me, my wife is totally on board with this stuff now LEAD don't PUSH, I had my wife watch all the Patriot Nurse videos on u-tube helped allot. Shes a good motivator for the lady's gotta love Patriot Nurse. I think it will play out as well as it possibly could because, your preparing.
Can't see vary good, hearing is bad, computer skills suck and, my grammer and spelling are piss poor, I guess I'm just screwed.

My wife threw away most of my empty two liter bottles before I got around to filling them. This is America, land of opportunity, not like the Philippines (Her former home) where every day was survival mode. She tolerates my "interest" but doesn't share it. She hates guns and knifes and won't learn to shoot a gun or carry any of the knives I've given her. You can't make someone want to be self reliant. Fortunately, although she is not a prepper, she has a lot of agriculture and Bushcraft skills that I have yet to master.

One web site that might help get women on board, if you can get them to go there in the first place, is http://mrssurvival.com

Worth a shot.

My Wife is old and Arthritic (like I am not!) and she is not technically inclined...That Said, she is pretty "with it" about survival. She is a Durn Good Shot, and if it can be cooked, she can do it.

She is a bit technically challenged, however, so I have gotten into the habit of having her "Front and Center" about things that she is a little shy of - What to do about Power outages: I wrote her a manual, step-by-step, and I make her do it all, but take it easy on her when there is heavy stuff. she can do it all, just not fast; I taught her how the Distiller works, and showed her that it will work with Dirty water, Birdfeeder water, Mudpuddle water, etc. She won't run the reloading set-up, though. Guess I'll just have to leave her in good shape if I check out before her :D . She knows how to hook up the camper, and how to set it up at a camping site. She can just barely sew, even though I have showed her a thousand times - just isn't interested. She is OK with Gardening, although she lets me do the majority of it. Same with Butchering Game. She is OK Fishing, and cooking the fish, but she "Lets Me" do the Cleaning of the catches. I don't think she has ever worked Leather, Welded, or various other skills I have, but I'll bet she could Barter for that stuff if she had to - we have the tools. I guess, when ya get right down to it, she could survive pretty well, IF SHE HAD A MIND TO. There is where many will fail when the time comes. If I am Gone, and she Doesn't make it, somebody will be really tickled to find our TreasureTrove. It will help someone.

Thank you guys for the posts regarding the Youtube videos and the web link.. I am going to look at them.. I have never had to be " self sufficient" and I am sure there is ALOT for me to learn. I need to learn technical things like.. the generator..
I really have to think long and hard about my emotional state would be, were I to find myself alone dealing with the loss of any of my family.. I may want to go on.. and I may not. I really can't say for sure until and if that time does come. :laundry:

My wife is a great well learned survivor. If something were to happen to me I know she would make it well on her own.

My GF has been with me for 25 years next month, so she has learned most of what I know about prepping, and some things that she has taught me as well. Our skills overlap but are not the same. I think she would do OK. She is not big on cooking, she only does it to please me, but could survive on peanut butter alone, I think. We have been through a lot of times where our preps saved us, so she understands and no longer thinks that I am nuts. (Fooled her !)
