Yeah, I'd like to be able to do that, but they're not quite ready. There's still a language barrier and a couple of behavioral issues that come with the territory, but as soon as they're able to handle it, it's in the plan.

Any chance that you could teach them how to use a hex stove, cook a simple meal, (even if it's a canned one), or the basics of erecting a simple shelter, in your yard, or better still, take them camping? (Even a single overnight stay would be good.) Make it a family "adventure". The advantages would be that they would not only have a better idea of what to do, would probably be less panic stricken if things do go to pot, and might also encourage them to learn to work together whilst at the same time learn how to act somewhat independently. Additionally, it could also help bring you even closer together as a family.
When in doubt, apply rule ·223 or ·308 -- unless you have a more preferred calibre.

Yeah we've been camping a couple of times. Once it cools off a little we're going to do some more minimalist backpacking. They also helped me fill out the bags and had a great time doing that.

Using a stove would be a great tutorial for them too, I like that. I'll definitely do that.
