As many of you may know, I have been trying to put together a decent medical set up for post SHTF, for a competent medical team. One of the problems I have been having is making sure the things I buy and wish to store are kept clean and organized and can be easily moved in bulk.
What I finally decided to do is purchase two of the Mash unit type metal chests the military used and have the drawer dividers already inside.
I picked up two of these on Ebay for $50.00 each and $35.55 each for shipping. A bit pricey, but a decent price for the box and the drawers already there. The link is

I also understand they made a similar type chest with fold out shelves, that I will be trying to obtain in the coming months.
I already have about 10 of these type of containers I use to store gear, ammo, etc. which I am quite happy with and have painted them specific colors to match what is inside and let me know by a quick glance what is inside without having to read the contents labels.
While the chests are heavy empty, and the full ones with ammo takes two people to lift and move, I have been quite happy with them and have used them for years now (bought firsts ones in 2001). I wish I had bought more back then when was getting them for 50 bucks each at Cheaper Then Dirt if I went and picked them up in FT. Worth location.
Is anyone else using these chests for storage?

No, but I wouldn't mind to have a couple. My current stores are in wooden crates and .50 cal cans, plus lots of stuff in closets and cabinets. Awesome idea though.

I use a lot of ammo cans. There are assorted uses for them and they come in a wide variety of sizes, but the large, broad open containers you're using are good stuff.

For my largest containers, I prefer the 20 mm Vulcan ammo cans, however, I currently don't have one as mine were stolen during a move.

I use one of the big containers to hold a lot of ammo boxes in, which contains different calibers of ammo. I think of it as double sealing the ammo against the elemets and easy to reach inside after opening it up and grabbing a regualr ammo can with the caliber I need at the time.

I got the chests today form UPS, poor guy was complainign aboutt he weight, I said, should see how much they weight when full. :)
They are dirty, need paint and one needs a new rubber gasket, but for the price I am very happy. I may decide to take pictures of before and after to show you what they are like and what they look like after I clean paint and fill them up with stuff.
