I have to say I have to wear a jacket and tie to work everyday! everything I wear except underwear, socks and ties come from the thrift store. I most always find 1-2 sport coats on the rack in my size that look like they have never been worn for around $5. We go to one about 2hrs away, right outside Birmingham and it is nothing for my wife to find church dresses for under $5, last trio she got 2 dresses with the tags still on them (1-$55 and 1$81) and a dress suit from macy's with the tags on it for under $22. I love the thrift store!!!!!!! :USA:

I think buying used clothes is a great way to save some extra cash. Another is withsporting good places summertime they mark down majority of last years hunting clothes to make room for the new to come in around august. Take for instance Academy sports in my are I went there only to buy some ammo for one of my rifles and ended up walking down the hunting isle of clothes. I found several shirts. Short sleeve long sleeve even a sweatshirt. All marked for about 5 dollars each. It's always good to check these kind of places out during middle of the year when companies are trying to get rid of last year items. I was even able to pick up a few pair of jeans. Normal price 45-50 dollars for 15 so it always helps to keep an eye out for your favorite gear u wear during hunting season. The shirts can of course be worn any time. :gs: great info thanks for the post

I have been keeping old clothes like jeans and T-shirts so that I can make things out of them for later, like patch work jeans and undies. I can find T-shirts for 25 cents or less that I can make underwear from and jeans can be made into skirts, shirts or whatever that I need.

Unfortunately I must have the most common jean size around here, as I almost never find them used and if they have a sale on jeans at the farm store my size is the first to sell out.

I think buying extra clothes is a good idea along with sewing materials and cloth. One of the advantages to hand sewn clothing is that usually it is very durable and outlast store bought cloths. If you keep a eye out you can buy a non-electric treadle machine for much less than a electric one, they seem to last longer to.

Having cloth around is also a good idea because you may have to make other things besides clothing, like tents, tarps, sacks, black-out curtains, . You can even make water buckets out of cloth and little wax or grease, they actually work really well.

We have not bought new clothes, except for maybe a few shirts or something on a clearance rack, for years. "Note on garage sales" if it has a zipper, try it out first

them is the things we git the kids for b-days and x-mas......... :D

we always do clothes shoppin' at thrift stores around here.....big city=lots of wasteful sheeple........as far as bedding and such, when the ol lady worked at the drury inn, she would bring home sheets, pillow cases, blankets (them veliux type), and such due to having a cigerrette hole or tear in.we have literly hundreds of sheets to use for curtains, bandages ect.....even covering the bed. plus when the lost and found stuff come up to git rid of......i never knew what she would be bringing home

the one thing that we do buy new of is bib overalls and coveralls........Walls or Carharts is it, wont scrimp there. :USA:

So much stupid on one little planet.. sigh.

As I expect, for the most part, we are still a dangerous, savage, child species...................
