I recently purchased a dozen outdoor solar landscaping lights (on a stake) the sell for $3-4 each. I place them in a pot outside to charge up during the day. In the evening I bring them indoors and place them around the house especially near doors. If we loose power we are still able to find our way out if needed (hopefully without tripping over dogs) they work pretty good & don't have to worry about replacing batteries.

we have a lot of those. I got a great set at Home Depot that are much more expensive, but the are lanterns that when outside hang on a hook, but I can carry them anywhere. we've also gotten some motion sensor spotlights/security lights that are all solar as well.

They're great for that purpose, Wino911. Around here almost everybody seems to have purchased a 12 pack or two, and then use them only to line their driveway and/or the garden path. Nobody that I've spoken to, however, has thought of using them as an indoor light source - not even during electrical outages, which are frequent in our area. We use them in the bathrooms and the hallway, rather than just leave a regular turned on. I've also found that people often throw them out when they appear to be no longer working, not realising that the batteries inside can be either recharged by using a normal AA battery charger, or if they are too far gone, replacing them.
When in doubt, apply rule ·223 or ·308 -- unless you have a more preferred calibre.

Using the garden solar light as an emergency charger......

Thanks Matt. I actually did see that post, but I think at the time I was in a hurry trying to catch up on many posts that I was behind on, and didn't pay sufficient attention. I've found you can't afford to be away from this site too long as the info just keeps coming in, and catching up with it can be a real PITA. When in doubt, apply rule ·223 or ·308 -- unless you have a more preferred calibre.

Yep, driveway markers during day, radio, and flsahlight power at night. We keep a couple of boxes in the preps for that purpose

I have several of the 3 dollar ones some have already stopped working and are ready to be taken back to the store, but using them inside is a great idea. I will have to use that one in the future. Thanks
