The plans I have drawn up are basically raised beds on 3 walls and 1 running down the middle with low growth plants in beds rigged with pulleys from the ceiling. Theoretically I'll end up with about 140 sq ft of raised boxes. There's also no limit on the number of 10'x10' sheds I can build so I could daisy chain them together if everything goes well. The biggest issue I'm going to have to deal with is keeping the temp up inside, we are still in the 20's with frost at night and it actually snowed on my way home last night. My "growing season" is from about July to Sept and even then the threat of frost is not gone and from the info I gleaned off the site you posted the tobacco plants cannot handle the cold weather, they need at least 70's.

I have short growing season also..I am way up in northern Omtario..usually get from May 24-till about Sept...I started my tobacco seeds indoors in one of my green houses, then I kept re-planting them in to larger pots till I got to about 12 inches round and 10 inches deep....I grew the tobacco when I lived in the apt last year, and I have pics of my patio garden..lol..

I was fortunate to get the house and have more space to grow this year...

Capt M. Go ahead and grow it. Even tobacco that has been flash dried is smokable and will feed the monkey. Some tobacco is cured for years to achieve a particular flavor or taste. The tobaccos of the mid-east are sun dried and cured in a matter of days. I have had good luck picking the leaf from the stalk, bagging it in a plastic grocery bag for about a week( for a little fermentation) and then hanging the leaf in partial sun for 2 or 3 weeks. If it gets a little crunchy don't worry. You can rehydrate the leaf in several different ways. In a bag with a apple slice, In a bag with sponge soaked in water or your favorite beverage, in a bag with a slice of bread. It only takes an overnight or two to bring it back to a pliable condition. Any tobacco can be flavored or treated in such a way as to make it a smoother, milder smoke.
Grow some and experiment a bit.
