From the 'Get Pandemic Ready' website:
Staying Healthy: Respirators

Why This is Important
To protect yourself, you need to know your vulnerabilities. The pandemic flu virus can infect you by two means:

    · Breathing in droplets containing infectious material.
A RESPIRATOR IS A FACE COVERING THAT PROTECTS THE WEARER FROM INHALING GERMS.

    · Contact between infectious material and the lining of the eyes, nose or mouth.

-snip-

NOTE: Only purchase a ‘NIOSH’ certified respirator

We have a stock of these and plan to get many more! Like vinyl gloves (surgical/emergency) I don't think you can have to many. If it's flu season, and you are suseptible or have a cold, you shouldn't go out without one (look to Asia to see people doing this). If you want even more protection, spray the mask with 4 Thieves vinegar.

In the 'It's better than nothing' category, consider this field expedient (tear gas) face shield/face mask.

I just got a box of them that I ordered before Christmas. Now I need to order more to store along with a couple more boxes of gloves and sterile bandages.

Kind of hard for me to wear a mask like that with facial hair, but I would loose this beard and stash real fast if need be!
Right now to prevent being around other people any more that I have to, I do most of my shopping late at night (thank God for WalMart being open 24/7) I get the heebie gebies every time I hear someone trying to hack up a lung in public. It's like damm take that crap outside and the thing that kills me! is most people won't even cover their faces when their coughing up that lung. :hb: :hb:
