I have an item that I stock in my bug out supplies that is probably one of the strangest, however Id like to share it with you as it has done wonders for me and I couldn't imagine tshtf without it. I have a couple of cans of fresh linen Lysol in my bag. I know it sounds funny, but when I was in the Marines I got a nasty case of athletes foot. I had a Sgt. Major that was from the French Marines and enlisted in the U.S. that taught me this,
Tinactin, all those sprays and powders would not touch it, it was so bad I had cracks all the way to the bone. I had wet feet, and dirty socks for days, really no other options out on patrols, so anyway, He showed me to get some Lysol and spray down my feet and boots. It has an amazing germ and fungus killing ability, now it stings a little, but it works. I have an occasional break out and I run and spray my shoes and feet and Walla good... now I have never had jock itch but I would bet it would take care of that as well as minor non skin break injury such as poison ivy.

The Lysol idea is a good one. It will not help with poison ivy. Poison ivy isn't a bacteria or fungus.

I assume it was a cure passed on to me when I was in the Corps, or maybe it actually is just a special privilege that somes with that affliction.

I agree I was taught that too especially in those feild shower trailers, but I was to far gone at that point. LOL

@ lonehawk , righto!it is an oil however Lysol works by breaking down the cell membranes of bacteria & microbes. Those cell membranes are made of biological oil precursors and the oils from the ivy & oak are destroyed by the Lysol. a few days and your cured!

The peeing in the shower excuse thing for athlete's foot had to go wrong at times.

I been pissing on my own feet the last 12 years for athletes foot. Works every time. My first squad leader taught me about that. Lysol.... I'll have to keep that one in mind. Times come when normal bathing just isn't possible. But, lysol in the boots and on the feet.... well, that'd be awsome!
