Did you mean that most of the earthquake and astronomical info was "no more than theory", or the Mayan stuff is "no more than theory"? For something to be a theory, there must first be a hypothesis. Then comes experimentation to find out if the hypothesis is valid. Y/N If yes, then the experiments need to be verified by other and like experiments. The hypothesis, after scrutiny by many scientists agreeing that the experiments and the results were valid, may become a "law". Such as " The speed of light is 186,000mi/sec. , and nothing can go faster than it. The whole thing gets wrapped up into a "Theory of the nature of light". Or, a better example, Einstein's Theory of Relativity. It's been studied, experimented with, tested for validity for 100yrs. He's been correct, or very close to correct all this time. In those instances where he was mistaken, the theory was corrected in order to be accurate. The Mayan calendar and all of the "unexplained", or possible future catastrophes are no more than conjecture. Not even a hypothesis is necessary, because it's been shown, already that the doomsayers are either woefully misguided and uninformed, or frauds. As Jesus said, paraphrasing, "You will hear of earthquakes, famine, war, etc, and all of these things will happen." Earthquakes have been happening since the plates cracked. War and famine have wreaked havoc on mankind for as long as he has walked the earth. Have faith in God for salvation. Don't have faith in shysters making claims about a catastrophe that even the living Mayans don't believe will happen.

May I ask of you, who is it that you are are having such a hypothetical debate with?? I believe this original post was put out back in August,,, started by myself for kicking around ideas.. If you do not like reading about what people are interested in, may I suggest that you just read something else, and keep your own conjectures under the subject of "religion"? Many of us here are ensuring our safety for our OWN REASONS.. whatever they may be.. and it is not your place to tell people that they are misguided for being concerned about things like earthquakes.. I, myself, find YOU to be woefully misguided in having faith in God alone, for I have heard that God helps those who helps themselves.
