Winter appears to be over now so figured it was time to do the burn out. Normal fire starting with kindling, took very readily then slowly added more pieces of split Pine about 12" long to build as much heat as possible so as to burn out the Epoxy in the lower barrel. Once it starts to build heat the smoke is rather noxious but after about an hour it smelled like plain wood smoke. It's still going on 3 12"x4" pieces of wood, been burning for about 2 hours.

Thanks Johnny, now it's time to wire brush it and remove all the low temp paint that's burned and crusty so it can get a nice hi-temp bar-b-que paint coating.

Well, everything is posted except for the installation of the grilling surface and the rods for hanging fish. I still need to try and find some oven grills, I've found plenty of refrigerator grills but those are coated in epoxy which I really don't want cooking off onto my food.
