If you have a freecycle in your area get on it and post that you are in search of jars/canning equipment. Lots of times you can get jars for free that way.

Also I post for fruit and veggies to pick. We have a lot of orchards in our area and people who have fruit trees in their yards just let the fruit rot rather than pick it. I know thats going to change soon but for right now take advantage of it. Last year I canned over 60 quarts of cherries, 20 pints of apricot jam, and 30 quarts of applesauce all for free not counting sugar and lids. I saved over $200.00 just for that.

Also inside ball canning pectin there is a cupon almost every time for 50 cents off your next box of pectin. Most pectin is running 1.50 per box right now so I always buy that brand to get the cupon and stock up on more.

great idea phaydra we have plent of canning jars as of now because we got some real cheap last week from an old lady that cant do the canning anymore. most of the jars are in brand new shape order. but we got prob about 11 dozen mixed quarts, reg size and mouth size, and a bunch of half gallon size, so the half galls ill probably use for my pickles

No doubt kelee! I just got a wall mount oil lamp that retails for over $70 for $2 and looks brand new.

I also got a heavy duty glass one that is an antique for $2.00 as well and a new chimney for one of my lamps at home for $1.00

I love yardsales!

Just love those yard sales too, (though down here we call them garage sales). I don't buy a lot, but I do keep an eye out for and grab any bargains, though Chi has claimed that I'm only buying stuff for the garage sale she is going to have one day!
When in doubt, apply rule ·223 or ·308 -- unless you have a more preferred calibre.
