My DH placed a want ad on craigslist in our area for canning jars. One reply wanted a few bucks but they were well worth it and now filled with lots of canned goodness. A few mayonnaise jars thrown in too but overall they were good... only lost a few in the canner. A more recent reply said in exchange for closing up her garden, she'd give us 150 Ball 3 cup jars (pint and a half). Jackpot! I spent a little over an hour at her overgrown 20x20 garden, pulling plants, weeds and then turned the soil with a pitchfork. Easy work for 150 canning jars. I brought a friend to help me, and so we split them. Placing an ad on craigslist has worked out well for us this canning season. I'll be filling my 75 3c jars with dilly carrots! mmmm-mmmmm!
