Grim,
Forgot this story.
Bisquick came out with a Complete Pancake Mix, brand new to them.
It was on sale last week for $2 a box, I had 50 cent coupons that doubled so got the boxes for $1 each, 6 of them.
Regular price $4.99 I would never pay that much, let alone the $2
Food prices, I'm seeking some solid info.

Here is an interesting blog post about food prices that purports to show a decrease in food prices.
Over 100 Years, Food Prices Have FALLEN By 82% http://mjperry.blogspot.com/2008/08/ove ... allen.html I would have to agree with his facts, though interesting I am not sure the post really relates to the question you are trying to answer. If we just look at the last ten years there is no question the cost of food is rising. After the green revolution where we figured out how to use petroleum and mechanization to significantly increase our farming output the cost of food went down significantly. What you are seeing now is the rise in petroleum prices directly reflected in your food costs. Another related issue that is driving food prices up is globalization and the improved lifestyles in other countries. As their lifestyles improve (aka they consume more resources) ours must decrease. People on the increasing side would say that it is is only fair. Whereas people on the decreasing side like you and I are not to keen on the process... |
