Supplies You Need And May Not Think About
PostPosted: Mon Jun 23, 2008 5:19 pm
I don't know exactly why, but I can never seem to remember everything I have...lol. Heck, I'm only 33, I shouldn't be having memory problems. Has anyone else been in a situation (minor) like going camping, or maybe a vehicle break down where you could have really used something but didn't (think) you had it....only to find out later that you had it all along? Frustrating....

I know there's inventory software out there, and some people keep detailed lists of what they have and where, but I swear, I'd probably forget even making the list in the first place.

I've even bought the same items several times because I couldn't remember what I did with the last one (multi-tools come to mind) only to find it much later, and rustier than when I left it....

Happen to anyone else? Or am I the only one losing it; literally...

I have 2 regular use vehicles (BO gear in each)
A pop-up comper (BO gear in it)
BOB's in the house
And misc. BO gear here and there
And camping gear here and there.

Yes, I forget what I have and where it is. The funniest thing is when you buy a case of some type of food and go to put it in your storage only to find a case still unopened of the same food.

The Mrs. got on my case the other night , "some prepared guy you are !"
"this the last bottle of catsup in the pantry, can't see you facing TEOTWAWKI without your catsup".
She got me there. Am shopping today, sure to get some looks at all the catsup I'll be buying.............Dennis

Dennis, I am ashamed of you. We do not eat much ketchup, but we eat a lot of mayo, and I keep a minimum of a half gallon at all times. Of course any time I see any dressings or sauce on sale I buy a bunch. We may not have ketchup, but we have hot sauce, salad dressing, and wing sauce out the wazzoo.

I am ashamed of you Dennis.

Catsup = ketchup?
Ketchup = ? (tomato sauce?)
No tomato sauce?!!
How could you not have a gallon or so put away?
Or, like Stainless, a reasonable alternative, like hot sauce?
I agree: Hang your head in shame Dennis. LOL

What is 'Wing' sauce, and what is meant by "out the wazzoo"?

We put away tomato, barbeque, worcestershire, hot chilli, sweet chilli, tabasco, oyster, fish, soy, tonkatsu, and apple sauces, chutney and mustard pickles, mayonnaise, 5 different mustards and 5 different vinegars, plus a large variety of herbs and spices: No way we're going to have a bland survival diet!

WRM, Sure we all have that problem: You've only got to look at this thread to see how easily we're side-tracked.
Last week there was a special on instant coffee - the decaffeinated type that my wife likes - and I bought extra, (despite being told not to).
(It's easier to beg forgiveness than beg permission.)
Anyway, I put it where the mrs could't find it, with the intention of placing it in the main stores later when she wouldn't notice.
Now I tell you man, I've looked everywhere, (except where the damned stuff is, obviously), and do you think I can find where I hid it?
I just know that sometime in the future I'm gonna hear Chi yell "What's this doing here?!"
(Hiding, LOL)

OK, OK the problem has been corrected , I'm flush on ketchup (catsup).
Good on mayo, dressings, hot sauce, peppers, etc...
Don't think I'll post my short comings again.
And Shin , wing sauce is for doing chicken wings in, there called Buffalo wings now.......Dennis
And a Wazzoo is a American term for your butt hole........

I found wing sauce for $1 a bottle and put it on everyhting I grill. It makes everything spicy.

I forget that not everyone speaks American.

I also have a problem remembering everything I've put away. I have one main bob. I know what is in it, and I go through it regularly. My wifes BOB is in progress. (have to have all of the kids stuff in there). As far as the stores go, I do forget, and sometimes extra stuff shows up in the cart. I just put it in rotation, and try to remember next time. I figure with the price of everything going up, I probably just saved myself some cash.

Down here, many people smother everything with tomato sauce, but when I was a kid my mother refused to have it on the table: Said it was an insult to a woman's cooking. My wife feels the sameway, but lets the kids use it on sausages, hot dogs and chips, or at barbeques. (She obviously doesn't mind if anybody insults my cooking, lol.)
