I want to know what sort of AR this guy has (and apparently everyone around him) that comes apart after a few thousand rounds. Gee, I guess that means some of the Ancient M16's I carried, including a pencil barrel M16 no A nothing, no forward assist, only were shot less than a few thousand rounds despite being so old and worn looking.

WHAT SKS DO YOU HAVE? I HAVE A NORINCO D AND M! VERY ACCURATE OUT TO 300. I LIKE MY AK MAGS, BUT YOU HAVE TO PRACTICE CHANGING THEM! THE SKS IS A VERY RELIABLE WEAPON.

I had to sell my Saiga MBR's(.308,30.06),to keep my ship afloat while I was unemployed.I got $1,800 for the pair(I only had$750 invested).I got another$3,000 for the 16K of ammo for them(I kept 5K of each just cuz). Now things are better, between the new job,and tax refund. Now I think I'm going to go with a .45acp Mech-Tech CCU with all the toy's,with a RIA 1911 for my under 250m MBR.Then I'm debating on a good 30.06 bolt gun,Saiga in .308 again,or one of the other higher powered autoloaders.Things are in the air right now.I'm not one to buy on impulse, and need to think it through first.Matt

Since this thread has been resurrected.... since my last post I've added an additional ( mixed for all weapons) 10,000 rounds of ammo half of it in .22.
If by my experiences, mistakes, and training. I can help one person to gain the wisdom that will allow them to survive or to save the life of someone they love then I can truly say, that all of the things I have done have been worth every second spent.

.[/quote]Thanks for the laugh. I've forwarded this to a few members of our 'club' who routinely put our AR's through more punishment then you will in a lifetime. Anyone who knows AR's knows about there reliablity if you just do the basic matainance. I'll admit, I wasn't going to even respond to your post as is completely obvious what your intension is. BUT I can't let this kind of mis-information go unchecked as there are lots of (new to the hobby) people looking for a reliable go to SHTF weapon and it really doesn't get much better then the weapon MOST law inforcement and the U.S. military go to. And that's the AR. BTW, You say you've owned 2, and they "crapped out" after a few thousand rounds? Well, IF you did have 2 and they 'crapped out' after a few thousand rounds it's because you obviously don't know what your doing. If they worked fine, then suddenly DON'T then you are doing something wrong. Sorry, plain and simply. Your right, lots of 'folks' love them, FOR A REASON.
I wanted so much to say something when the post was made..... However like you I usually let stupidity slide. But since you posted what you did... Thank you I agree with you. I have ran some 4,000+ rounds through my AR. I always clean mine after use, regardless of if I shoot 2 rounds or 200. I also spent 18 years in the military and we had weapons that probiblly had 25,000+ rounds fired through them and almost no issues due to proper maintenance. I would not hesitate to depend on mine in a life or death situation, after all I did with mine while in the service. If by my experiences, mistakes, and training. I can help one person to gain the wisdom that will allow them to survive or to save the life of someone they love then I can truly say, that all of the things I have done have been worth every second spent.

+1 for the AK. Almost nothing you can do to make it not shoot (double negatives?). Cheap to shoot. I personally the surplus corrosive Yugo ammo. Brass case and lead bullet. Can't go wrong. Then again it will shoot ANYTHING. Wolf, Brown Bear, Silver Bear, Golden Tiger you name it an AK will spit it out. The the most accurate rifle around, but makes up for it in reliability.
