I was looking on Craigslist for some cheap housing aka travel trailer/motor home and came across
some older units from 700.00-2000.00 all run and drive, Then I thought why not use a motor home as
a bov? They're totally self contained so once you arrive at your bol you could hook it up to your septic
or dump tank and use for a guest house HHMMMM just thinking .
Motor Homes as a BOV?

We have a Fully Stocked Up Coleman Folding "Tent" Trailer for "LifeBoat Duty" - if things dictate that we bolt, Either of our 4X4s can haul it, and it takes less than Five minutes to be on the road, with everything we need for One Months Run, all ready to go.
Has Heater, Potty, Kitchen, Stores, Fuel, Inside and Outside Showers, Clothes, Weapons, Radios, Batteries,Copies of Important Papers, Spices, Coffee, and so on....AC/DC/Propane Refrigerator will make Ice, without outside power. Propane Forced-Air Heater works Great, with 12VDC Power. Bought it One Year old, for $3000 cash (new Price was over $13,000)...Now, Fourteen Years Later, it still works great. Only 16 feet long, and less than Four Feet High when Stowed, it is easy to pull, even up some really bad Logging Dirt/Gravel/Mud Mountain Switchbacks. When Opened up, it has Two King-Sized Beds, and a Queen Sized (Odd Shaped) bed as well. It is then over 26 feet Long, and can have a 12X10 ScreenRoom as well, so a total of nearly 360 Sq Ft of Living Space. I can leave it set up, way back in the woods, and still use the 4X4 to reconnoiter/shop/whatever. Dunno how your State works, but License fees on a Bus=Sized RV would be pretty stiff here in Worshintun. Tent trailer License is $30/yr here for the Coleman, and Insurance is real cheap, too. The bigest thing with a lot of the motor homes is that they aren't rated for much extra weight. If you are looking for something that can carry the weight look into an older greyhound bus. Lots of them converted and with diesel prices as high as they are they are getting cheaper. They can carry a lot of weight and the frames on them are stronger. Also a lot of them are really well insulated and can help make camping in them really comfortable. For the most part they all have diesel pushers and they run strong for a really long time.

IMHO a motor home isn't a great idea as a BOV. Size makes them impractical especially if you have to use unpaved ( gravel) raods to get out. As well as fuel mileage being another issue. As mentioned above they aren't designed to carry a lot of extra weight and would offer little or no protection and could actually be unstable in adverse conditions. ( high winds, slick roads, heavy rain and such.) Instead I would look into a good 4X4 you can even find full size vans in 4WD. Add a pop up camper if you want for more comfortable living quarters. Just my .02 worth.
If by my experiences, mistakes, and training. I can help one person to gain the wisdom that will allow them to survive or to save the life of someone they love then I can truly say, that all of the things I have done have been worth every second spent.

I have to agree with oldsoldier. RVs are slow, gas hogs that are a pain is the @$$ to manuver.
Whenever any government becomes oppressive it is not only the right but the duty of the citizenry to revolt. Thomas Jefferson
I can understand how a person can look at mankinds inhumanity to man and say there is no God; but I can not understand how a person can look at the mountains and the stars and say there is no God.
