Admit it, just the thought of seeing this on your plate stirs emotions:

A 23.5 pound turkey
A 22.4 pound turkey (both thawing in separate coolers, on a bed of ice)
Real mashed potatoes (10#)
Gravy (a vat)
Kielbasa & sauerkraut
Full pan stuffing
Full pan corn casserole
5# fresh green beans w/onions, bacon & toasted almonds
Homemade rolls & butter
Celery w/peanut butter
Deviled eggs
Pies - 2 pumpkin, 1 berry, 1 gooseberry, 1 apple

There are 30+ coming for dinner on Friday. I use the whole stove, the oven, an electric roaster, the gas grill w/extra burner. It's like a dance, getting everything done at the same time. How fun is this??

THE TURKEY THAT SHOT OUT OF THE OVEN

The turkey shot out of the oven
and rocketed into the air,
it knocked every plate off the table
and partly demolished a chair.

It ricocheted into a corner and
burst with a deafening boom,
then splattered all over the kitchen,
completely obscuring the room.

It stuck to the walls and the windows,
it totally coated the floor,
there was turkey attached to the ceiling,
where there'd never been turkey before.

It blanketed every appliance,
it smeared every saucer and bowl,
there wasn't a way I could stop it,
that turkey was out of control.

I scraped and I scrubbed with displeasure,
and thought with chagrin as I mopped,
that I'd never again stuff a turkey
with popcorn that hadn't been popped

got to have green been casserole.. granted i have been informed this year, I will be the only one eating it. whatever.

OMG , where does one find a 30 lb turkey ? sounds like a steroid injected turkey?

Oh grim you mean there are actual holidays ?

When you are my age and you wake up alive, it makes it a holiday. So now everyday is a holiday.

It's a great day at the store when they have 5# of flour on sale for $.99. Needless to say I stocked up on flour and sugar since it was also on sale. The checkers didn't even look at me funny about that many bags of flour. They must of thought I was going to do some holiday baking.
