Extreem Couponing is a new TLC show. I had heard all kinds of things aobut it in advance and was prepared for a lot of crap. I was amazed at how these people work and what they are doing with the products. All of the people use their savings on food to pay down their bills, most all of the ones shown so far are "stocking up" and doing like we do...using the stuff as preps.
Many of them consider this as insurance against hard times, they show their pantries and give some great ideas.
On the flip side, some of the people do it to resell the stuff at garage sales and flea markets. Some of them are a bit rediculous in a mental illness type of way. However, in general, it's really interesting and gives some great tips on how to shop better.
One woman in particular, used couponing as a way to get herself off welfare and pay off all of her bills. Another used their couponing as a way to survive when they lost a job. Another couple coupon, save what they need to make sure they have at least a years supply and take the rest to shelters and food banks.
I'm loving the pantry porn angle!

We've seen the show and it's great. We decided to try it. We went to Walgreen's with a Walgreen ad, and the manager even told us how to do it. Walgreen will print out Walgreen money and the end of a transaction. So, you use a Walgreen ad with a manufacture coupon buy the goodies first. Then when that purchase is done, the Walgreen money prints out, and you use the Walgreen money to buy the stuff that isn't on sale. We bought $54 worth of stuff, and paid $12 for it. Got things like 4 deodorants, 2 tubes of toothpaste, so we won't need to be buying things like that for a while. Go to the net, sign up for coupon.com, couponing 101, others you can find on Google. They will send you manufacturing coupons via email. Definitely worth looking into. We've got a full freezer already and the cupboard is half full. (Pot pies, .39 each.) Check into it, gang, it's worth it.

Awww.... We don't have coupons like that in OZ. If we did, I'm sure the supermarkets would soon have me blacklisted.
When in doubt, apply rule ·223 or ·308 -- unless you have a more preferred calibre.

I'm now wondering if the popularity of coupons will have an effect on their availability in the future: Companies seeing how much could be walking out the door without leaving many dollars behind might begin to place conditions and restrictions on their use.

We have been doing this for quite a while. The key is to get overage. My wife spends hours preparing for a grocery trip but here we spend much less than anyone would imagine. There are some that save any more depending how long and much you put into this. We get a lot of stuff for free that I just put with my preps like deodorant, toothpaste, tooth brushes, etc....I have not purchased saving cream in a very long time! Lets say you get a coupon for $2 off any size bottle of syrup. We will get the smallest size for say 1.25. That gives you .75 of overage. The key is to do that on multiple items in bulk. This is where the prepping comes in on coupons. You need to find multiple coupons to get overage. Tums is another favorite!
