Wasn't sure where to put this so I figured I dump it here. With what is going on with our economy and our country all the way around, i have invested in a bit of ammo in the last few weeks. Hell i have no idea what is ahead of us, but when the SHTF, I figure if and when it is needed, I had better hand it ready. We might not have to "bugout" right away, but even if it meand standing ground to make sure that others don't get to our "preps" then firepower will still be needed. Here is my list for now:
I picked up 1500 rounds of 2.23/5/56 to go with the 1500 i already have. 1000 rounds of 9mm FMJ 147 gr. to go with the 1500 I have, 500 12 ga, 200 4.10 and 200 rounds of .45. And 100 red / white phosphous 12 gauge flares.
To be honest Without range shooting 6500 rounds should be enough for a while, but I really have no idea if it really is. It is all in a rolling wagon that also holds a solar oven to go along with the rest of the "bugout" gear.
I have prepped and always felt mine and myself would be ok, but I have to tell you as it looks more and more each day, I wonder are we really ever ready for what may be head for us? :?
Oh, weapons:
Robinson Arms XCR 2.23 /5.56
XD9SC 9mm
XD45 .45

Have you put more than a few thousand rounds through the AR? Not trying to start any crap, but I've owned 2 and BOTH crapped out after a few thousand rounds. By that I mean catastrophic jams. I had went through the 2nd time and took all the advice of all the "experts" as to mags, ammo, upgrades, etc. FWIW, I've also witnessed two dozen or more of these weapons goes down at classes and during hard field use.
After the 2nd one failed in the same manner the first one did (and no I'm not talking about a feed jam or EASY jams) I sold it and said never again. I realize a lot of folks love them and will tell you "I've never had any problems with mine" but there are a lot of locker queens out there. More than that, there's a lot of guys that go and shoot 200 rounds once a year, clean it for three days afterwards and declare it "reliable", NONE of which I'm talking about. Please, everyone that is planning on relying on an AR, please please please also carry a handgun. It will likely save your life. Again, not looking to start a debate, who's got the better kung fu or any BS like that, just stating my experiences with this rifle and offering caution to help a fellow patriot. |

Ok, yea I have over 5000 rounds thru the XCR. The Robinson arms XCR is NOT an AR. while it shoots 2.23 /5.56 rounds, that is where it stops. It is a gas power alternative to the AR and while it does share external AR parts, mags, stocks, and exterior rail covers or fore grips will work on it. The internals are absolutely totally 100 % different and very thing is proprietary not even a trigger package from an AR will work with this weapon.
This particular weapon has NEVER failed to fire or failed to eject EVER. It is a totally gas adjustable weapon. Check it out here: http://www.robarm.com/index.htm |

that's a good looking rifle chef, especially in 6.5 grendel. too bad it's so expensive.

It is a bit expensive BUT, if you built a AR to the same specs with all the rails, a quality buttstock, and a match trigger, you'd have as much of not more if you were to buy a quality weapon. And it it TOTALLY 100% American made.
I wanted to get tje 6.5 grendel conversion, just haven't gotten up the nerve to tell the wife, "its just patrs!"
It is also available in 7.62 conversion , and the ammo for that is cheap. But the 6.5 is such a great projectile that I just think i need that with a 18.6" barrel. |

I'm still stockpiling for the SKS, the M/N & the .22's. But to be honest with you I probably have more than enough to last my lifetime at around 2500 rds for each caliber.
How many firefights can a person survive, regardless of skill & training, before their luck runs out? |

Looking at getting an AK-74 as the ammo is redonkulously cheap.
5.45x39 is going for around $150-$170 for a 1080 round case. That's about half the cost of 7.62x39 and a third the cost of 5.56. Plus, it creates horrible enough wound cavities that the barbaric Afghans called it the "poison bullet" and "devil's bullet" |

OOOH. Calling the Afghans barbaric! That's just not pollitically correct, WGR: Not all of them are radical Moslems. But from all accounts that's not a bad weapon for dealing with those that are.
Be good against MZBs too.
When in doubt, apply rule ·223 or ·308 -- unless you have a more preferred calibre.

yea they are
