been on quite a lot of sites in tshtf genre, and this is one of the best i've seen yet, so lucky you - now i'm going to rant 'n rave all over this thing until you kick me off!!
just kidding - i'm the quiet type anyway. i keep my rants to myself
i'm in north-central ontario and i've been gearing up since putting together my y2k b.o.b. that many years ago, and i've been expanding the concept and getting my sh!t together ever since. i'm at the point now that i could go at a moments notice and stay gone up to a year if need be.
i have quite a few ideas for bugging out on crown land just north of here. i've been scouting the area for over a year and collecting old maps that show the old trails and logging roads (the newer ones don't show them), i've got a bomb-proof chevy 4x4, aluminum canoe, yamaha tw200 trailbike and an old skidoo. a storage locker in my buddy's name in the nearest town and enough tools and materials stored there to build a serious bunker.
there's pockets of old growth forest scattered around that are impervious to aerial detection and there's meat on the hoof and fish in the water absolutely everywhere, and, luckily, the winters last 5 months, and mosquito/blackfly season lasts another 3, so that not even many canadians who call themselves "hearty" could tolerate such a god-forsaken place from november to july. but when it comes to bugging out, cold winters and bugs are easily dealt with and i'm convinced that this is one of the best areas in all of north america. (august through october is incredible)
so... if there are a few good, sturdy folk (american or canadian) out there willing to collaborate on such a venture, then pm me and we can talk privately and in stealth (due to the crown land thing, you understand, as the gov. would much rather know about it beforehand than actually try finding you once you're out there)
of course, there is also the option of purchasing inexpensive property of up to a hundred acres or more, but i just can't stretch my limited funds that far right now.
i'm sure that like many people here, i've tried to convince my closest friends and family into preparing and putting together a plan to join me, but they are sheep, who think i'm paranoid and should just take some prozac and smile more often. ("if you don't like whats on the news, then don't watch it!) -so i've given up trying.
thank god my girlfriend gets it, or i would be completely alone
hopefully, i can find some more like-minded folks here
high in ontario
