what is the shelf life in iv bags or are they empty and you fill them?? I am stupid when it comes to stuff like this

Well, I haven't added anything to my stores since I joined the site (I know, bad me) so finally today I have a couple of things to add.

5 lbs of rice.
25 12 ga. 7.5 birdshot.
20 - .30-30 rounds
1 - Mini-mag

I also added 2-2liter bottles to a tote, will hold about 9-10. I plan to get a larger tote in the future. In addition, while at the store today, I saw them selling 5-gal water containers - the kind that go in watercooler dispensers. The 5gal. ones were 11.95, and purified water at the store is $0.40/gal. I like them because a) easy to store bulk, b) easy to move bulk (has a handle.) So I'm probably going to go back and pick some up tomorrow.


And I put a few bucks aside for the future, as always.

About two years, maybe more if you arent worried about all the legal BS of being sued for using expired medications (such as in a disaster for me or my family!!)

They come filled and sealed to the medical companies to assure reliablity, consistency, and sterility of the NS in the bag. A "true" kit consists of (and what I have 3 of in my bag) the following:

1 500-1000cc NS (normal saline) or LR (lactated ringers) bag

1-5+ IV caths of various sizes from 14ga-22ga
The smaller the number means the bigger the needle.
I keep 1 each of 18,20,22ga caths as these are common sizes used for adults, 24ga is usually used on babies, the LARGE 14,16ga are used for FAST fluid replacement during massive trauma resulting in significant blood loss.

That is it for the most part, I tape it all together wrapped around the bag so its nice, neat and compact. Ill post a pic or two.

Yes, the brown truck o' happiness lady just dropped off two boxes of .9g triple antibiotics (144 each), a box of 5g A&D ointment paks (144), and a 12roll box of 1"x10yd 3m Transpore surgical tape. And everything has exp. dates of 2009! Loveliness!!
