I don,t know how many of you have a higher power, but mine sure blessed me...and I was provided with the means to be able to buy and pay off compltely my own home in Dec 2009...So prepping has now become so much more fun...

These pics are hiddy new house number one..this was closest system was already built into the house when I moved in..the whole comlete wall at one end of the master bedroom is a closest...The above part is still a work in progress, but does hold the camping gear ,boxs of spare clothes, and since I already have dressers in that room, the drawers are filled with yarns and materials...it is the little side closest that I have filled with canned food and canning jars...so here we go here come the pics...

This is a picture of the whole closest system

This is how I filled it all up

I absolutely love that cupboard. I'm hoping to find a place like that on the sunrrom that we can make.

I only have a small house 900 sq feet...finished basement with a second kitchen down there...I have to build some raised beds for gardens and then I will start back in the house again and will take pictures as I build more storage for preps..I will post the pics as I go along...

being a single mom of 3 kids..means I do it all in the house..so some of these projects take me time to get completed

That's pretty cool. I always wanted to try an build one of those secret storage places you see on tv. The one where someone presses in a statue and it opens a door or a wall. Man i can't wait till i buy a house. Oh, things one wants to do! :D

Good job too. Very inconspicuous to the average person! :gs:

kelee877, Nice setup!
I am adding onto my house now. I am going to try and incorparate a system like you have. I would like to have one whole wall with a false front. The problem for me is, doing away with the seams or lines. I want a 10' X 8' wall to swing out or up and trying to figure out how to do it is the challenge.

why not go 5x4 would be easier to open and close...also I will measure the depth of my closest it is a good space amd I am sure you can use half for hiddy spots,by building cubby hole...and the up top shelves in my closest a real waste of space...it was here when i bough the house and they only use one layer of ply wood and not re-inforced to good..all that is up there is camping gear and Xmas dec,s...me I want to pile it high with tons of canned foods..but I would probably bust the bottom out...and its hard to reach for shorties like me 5 foot 3 ...lol...

5'X4' does sound more reasonable. I was also thinking 4'X8' so I could use a whole sheet of plywood. There is no way I could a whole peice of sheetrock to swing out, let alone hold a hinge.

btmsx, I'm building a false wall attached to industrial type storage shelves on rollers. So, when several shelves are moved first, then the one with the wall attached can be moved, revealing a 8' wide, 6' deep, 8' high space.
