Tuckfard - Douglasville, GA, no way. I'm outside of Temple (but don't often admit to that). Small world.

Thanks for that Rob.
I had a read of some of the article, and I personally feel that although the first 5 pages contain good practical info, the rest is technical stuff that is unnecessary for most people, (though those that are in to origami might enjoy it).

Down here we call such tarp set-ups "hoochies". The military hoochies issued here are fitted with press studs and grommets that make it easy to join two or more together, and they can also be used as a poncho. I carry one of these and, together with a ground sheet and a couple of pieces of mozzie netting for the ends, have found it to be a really simple and effective shelter. It takes up minimal space in my back-pack and I carry it, with ropes and several tent pegs, together with my snore-sack in the 'sleeping compartment'.
When in doubt, apply rule ·223 or ·308 -- unless you have a more preferred calibre.

LOL damn really small world. I actually live just outside of VilaRica, off 61 and Ridge Rd. Its considered Paulding County but I could spit on Carroll with not too much effort. If i go to wally world, i go to Mirror Lake. Good to know someone else is in my neck of the woods. Welcome to the Site.

Wow that is eerie. I'm actually close to Villa Rica too, but my mailing address is Temple. I'm off of Hwy 113 just inside the Carroll county line. You wouldn't happen to be a member of Little River Gun Club in Carrollton would you ? (I am)

I'll be posting some more less technical info files over the next week or two as I get the time.

I agree with the previous post about the shelter Origami. I got lost pretty fast. But I think that those technical folks here might enjoy it. The guy that wrote it must be an Engineer :D

A tarp shelter is best suited for emergency shelter. Also easy to carry on your survival vest. So many uses and way too many ways to deploy. Best invention since bubble gum, and it doesn't cause cavities.
