Ramen Noodles

You know the $0.10 noodles you get.

Ok the directions say to use 2 cups of boiling water: WRONG

Now in a real life situation you would want to conserve as much water as possible, heres how.

Take 1 cup water in canteen cup, bring to a boil.

**NOTE: It took 7 1/2 mins for mine to boil using my alchy stove from a sterno can. For 2 cups it only takes 9 mins COVERED or not SAME time. For the salt MYTH it took 11 mins to boil 2 cups with 1 TSP salt added.

Take canteen cover and put your noodles and flavor in it then your boiling water, cover with cup and in 2 mins STIR, wait 3 more mins and Walla you got noodles with 1 cup water not 2.

Huh, good idea.

I still need a damned canteen. I went to the local A/N the other day. Well, I tried to - it's closed down, since I don't know when. It was a nice place, a true surplus store. I loved the stuff I found in there. Alas, it's gone, so now I have to make a 20 mile trip to the closest A/N store, Army Barracks. Not true surplus, most of it, but good stuff nonetheless.

That picture now explains an unclear part of your instructions you posted. You are using a GERMAN canteen! See, to folks who use US gear, the "canteen carrier" is the cloth part that clips onto your belt. I couldn't figure out WHY you were putting the ramen in the cloth part and pouring water over/thru it!! NOW I understand.

BTW - I have started using German webgear and have my US canteens stuffed into German canteen-carriers. With a price like that, I might upgrade! Thanks for the link.

i've always used one cup of water per pack of noodles. i simply crush the noodles and put them in the water, then bring it to a boil. by the time it boils they're ready.

yeah, the whole 'put them in the canteen cover' part threw me too. i was thinking that, even if it worked, it'd taste like crap!

thanks for the link ocala, i'll have to check that site out.

Try Sportsman's guide
or
Major surplus

both have good deals on canteens.
